The general assessment is more than positive for the Liège Natation club upon returning from these Belgian championships. 23 medals, including eleven gold and eight silver, were won by André Henveaux’s swimmers. Added to this are the qualifications for the European Junior Championships in Vilnius of Camille Henveaux for the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle, of Florentin Lovens in the 800m and of Maxime Courtois in the 1,500m. And finally, the qualifications for the European Championships in Belgrade for Camille Henveaux in the 200m freestyle and her brother Lucas Henveaux for the 200m and 400m freestyle.

However, despite his qualification, the latter will not go to Belgrade because he does not see his preparation for the Olympics passing through the Serbian capital.

It was great and reassuring in view of the summer and the Olympic Games. Even if these Belgian championships were not much for him, he was still serious and diligent, bringing home gold several times for the club. There’s so much of a gap between him and the other swimmers that he could just take the medals and call it a day. But no, it offers services of an international level. He clearly does honor” proudly explains Lucas’ father and coach, André Henveaux.

Other swimmers also showed off during these Belgian championships. Sébastien De Meulemeester, Grace Palmer, Ambre Franquinet, Florentin Lovens and Maxime Courtois all achieved one or more podiums, making their coach couldn’t be more satisfied. He will also proudly assure: “we are the best swimming club in Belgium.

Let’s not forget the great performance of Alisée Pisane, who won the silver medal in the 800m freestyle. A medal that she won for another club in the region, the Waremme Swimming School.
