Heritage

Sunday, September 22, day on the banks of the Semme with a visit to the Villefavard mill, currently being restored. On the program: visits to the mill at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; musical aperitif with Stéphane and Aurélien; meal straight from the bread oven (€15 excluding drinks). The gourmet menu will be prepared by Isa Maggi. Finally, exhibitors of local products will complete the event, organized by the association of Friends of the Villefavard Mill. Ride

The Vayres à Soi association is organizing a 6 km walk on one of the most beautiful hiking trails accessible from the village of Vayres, Saturday September 21 at 2 p.m. (departure from the washhouse). The Hiero federation is organizing a concert by the group The House of Love (pop rock), on tour in , on Sunday, September 22 at 8 p.m., at the John-Lennon cultural center in . The opening act will be Alex Nicol, a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from Montreal. Prices from €14 to €20 (usual networks).

Heritage

Saturday, September 21 at 10 a.m., as part of the Heritage Days, the Montintin estate in Château-Chervix exceptionally opens its doors to the public to retrace the history of the young refugees welcomed in the Limousin countryside during the Second World War. From 1940 to 1944, the Montintin castle sheltered between 150 and 300 Jewish children, threatened by the Nazis. Visit organized by the Briance sud Haute-Vienne tourist office, in partnership with the AFMD, the commune of Château-Chervix and the Delamaze family, owner of the Montintin estate. The BD Bulles 2 Papier bookstore, 17, rue Adrien-Dubouché, is organizing a meeting with Aurélien Morinière, a Limousin author, on Saturday, September 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discover the outcome of his four-volume series. Faces – Who we arepublished by Glénat.
This series follows the destiny of five characters, of different nationalities and generations, who will inscribe their crossed destinies in worlds at war. It questions our identities against an authentic historical backdrop, from 1900 to 1954.

Churches

– As part of the 41st edition of the European Heritage Days on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September, the Billanges Heritage Conservation Association is organising guided tours of the “new” Billanges church, after two years of restoration (roof, bell tower, ceiling, etc.) and the recent archaeological discovery. These tours, lasting 1 hour 20 minutes, will take place on Saturday 21 at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.; on Sunday 22 at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. (tours in English possible). You can eat on site in the village at lunchtime at the Relais des Billanges (05.55.42.70.81, 06.60.54.30.20).

– Saturday, September 21, at 2:15 p.m., there will be a guided tour by Claude Mouret of the Gothic church of Magnac-Bourg (meet in front of the church). The architecture is remarkable, combining both fortifications and a refinement worthy of the Renaissance. A former castle chapel, it benefited from a luxurious reconstruction at the end of the fifteenth century. The three giant stained glass windows, among the most beautiful in Limousin, date from the very beginning of the sixteenth century and present thirty-six large figures in period dress. The sculpture contains jewels. Finally, the choice of materials shows a desire to mark prestige here too. Contact: 06.74.48.49.26.

– As part of the European Heritage Days, the fortified church of Saint-Martin-de-Tours in Compreignac, listed as a Historic Monument, opens its doors to the public on Saturday, September 21 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, September 22 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free. Nature

France Nature Environnement Limousin is organizing an event on Saturday, September 21 at 8:30 p.m. at the La Loutre nature center in Verneuil-sur-Vienne on “The world of the night,” to meet nocturnal wildlife. Online registration required.

The Roucel farm, 483 rue du Chez in Glanges, will open its doors to the public on Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The farm tour includes the golden apple orchard and the fattening and duck processing workshop. Friday, September 20, at 9 a.m., the Espace régional d’information de proximité (Erip) sud Haute-Vienne is teaming up with the training organization Ifria to offer a tour of the Arédian company Larédy, La Seynie space. The goal of the tour is to discover the real profession of “canner” in the service of creating gourmet boxes.
