This Sunday, July 16, 2023 in Lourdes, the anniversary of the 18th and last apparition, the torchlight Marian procession will exceptionally be followed by a concert by Andrea Bocelli, “Prayers for life from Lourdes to the world”, offered by the Brazilian production Dançar Marketing and Colégio Vértice (Brazil).
The concert is part of a cycle of performances at Marian shrines around the world.
Andrea Bocelli will be accompanied by the Choir and Orchestra of Pau-Pays de Béarn, conducted by Italian maestro Carlo Bernini and accompanied by Ukrainian violinist Anastasiya Petryshak and French soprano Clara Barbier Serrano.
The procession will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will be followed by the concert on the Rosary square.
Free admission and free seating (folding seat recommended).
Access to the event
The Marian procession will begin at 8:30 p.m. from the Grotto of the Apparitions.
Entrance through the two main gates of the Sanctuary (Porte Saint-Joseph and Porte Saint-Michel). After the passage of the procession, free access to the esplanade.
More than 300 sick people are expected. They will be placed in the first rows.
Traffic and parking conditions
The City of Lourdes and the Tourist Office, partners of the Sanctuary, organizer of the event, will take the necessary measures to adapt the traffic and parking conditions.
The City of Lourdes, responsible for safety on public roads, will activate the retractable bollard system on Sunday July 16 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The retractable bollards are located at Pont Saint Michel, avenue Bernadette Soubirous, avenue Monseigneur Théas (entrance and exit), avenue Monseigneur Schoepfer, Rue Sainte Marie, rue des Carrières de Peyramale.
In this area, and for the duration of the lifting of the bollards, parking is prohibited, as is the circulation of motorized vehicles.
