Xiaomi is reportedly preparing a major evolution of its foldable flip smartphone. According to recent leaks, the Mix Flip 2 could redefine the segment standards with a larger battery and an optimized design.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 would not be just a simple iteration of the Chinese brand's first flip smartphone. According to a source on capacity between 5600 and 5700 mAha significant increase compared to the 4780 mAh of the current Mix Flip. This development would place the Mix Flip 2 far ahead of its competitors, in particular the future Galaxy Z Flip 7 from Samsung which should retain a 4,000 mAh battery.
Even more impressive, this improvement in autonomy would be accompanied by a reduction in dimensions. The original Mix Flip, which measures 7.6 mm unfolded and 16 mm folded for a weight of 190 grams, would give way to a thinner and lighter model. This technical prowess would allow Xiaomi to compete directly with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (6.9 mm unfolded) and the Motorola Razr 2024 (7.25 mm unfolded).
Above all, the gain in battery capacity would propel it well ahead of the competition. The clamshell foldable segment mainly suffers from average autonomy, Xiaomi could make a splash here.
What do we already know about the next Xiaomi Mix Flip 2?
On the technical side, the Mix Flip 2 should integrate the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, succeeding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 of the current model. An expected novelty would be the addition of wireless charging, absent from the first generation. But Xiaomi could again choose not to adopt this technology to reduce costs.
Unlike some models limited to the Chinese market, the Mix Flip 2 should be marketed internationally, like its predecessor launched last September.
