Since December 18, the curious have been flocking to cinemas to discover one of the most anticipated films of the end of the year: Mufasa, the live-action film dedicated to this illustrious Disney character.
On the occasion of the release of this blockbuster with millions of admissions and which has already beaten Vaiana 2, the sixth television channel is offering to (re)watch a must-see of animated cinema: The Lion King.
Remember, in 1994, Rob Minkoff and Roger Allers produced this cartoon that needs no introduction, and whose music written by Tim Rice and composed by Elton John has continued to delight young and old for over thirty years. The soundtrack has also won awards at the Oscars and the Golden Globes.
“An unbeatable classic”
Faced with the immense success of this classic from Disney studios, a first eponymous live-action was even produced in 2019. That’s not all, musical comedies that have become cult have seen the light of day, like the one which, for ten- eight years old, was a hit at the Théâtre Mogador.
In total, The Lion King cost nearly $79.3 million (45% budget, plus promotion) and grossed more than $783.4 million internationally. To this day, it continues to be considered the fifteenth highest grossing film in cinema history.
Huge success in theaters, but also in the video industry, since the film has sold more than 55 million units on VHS and DVD, which is colossal.
That’s not all, Disney occupies first place in the Top 10 best animated films according to AlloCiné spectators (it is followed by Your Name by Makoto Shinkai and Coco and Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina). In fact, Internet users have given it an excellent rating of 4.5 out of 5. Among the best reviews, we can read:
