Because she is at the very heart of her time, with a moving catalog like a veritable “molten magma”, Pierre Charvet tells us, “capturing the lines of force”, Olga Neuwirth could only occupy the center of the programming of the Présences Festival which aims to welcome all aesthetics, in their diversity and complexity. A position that the composer, who also expresses a certain pessimism about the future of free creation, does not see without a slight apprehension: seeing “all” of her work in one week is enough to make one dizzy.

However, the composer will rub shoulders for the event with 29 other composers during 10 concerts. This 35th edition of the Présences Festival will open on February 4 with the CNSMDP Orchestra and the Next ensemble under the baton of Pascal Rophé, with, to get directly to the heart of the matter, Mana for orchestra by Christophe Bertrand and Orlando’s World by Olga Neuwirth in particular. The edition will close on February 9 with a concert of creations by the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, co-produced with IRCAM, under the direction of Matthias Pintscher. On the menu: Fausto Romitelli, Tristan Murail, Eric Montalbetti, Marius Malanetchi and Olga Neuwirth. A total of 41 works will be performed, including 24 commissions from Radio France, 26 world creations and 6 French creations. The festival will allow you to listen, among others, to works by Michaël Levinas, Sasha J. Blondeau, Imsu Choi, Aurélien Dumont as well as Boulez and Berio to whom the Critics’ Tribune will be dedicated for Sinfonia. And since contemporary music rhymes with youth, the festival offers a €7 package for young people aged 16 to 28 for all concerts! (NF)
