The musical comedy “Just in time!”, the creation of the Barrière casino, is scheduled for around fifty performances in Toulouse. A journey through time that makes us revisit History thanks to choreography, careful decors and unmissable variety titles.
Ready for a trip back in time? Every year, the Barrière casino in Toulouse offers its musical comedy, an original creation, which plays for fifty performances, until June 2025. “Just in time!” tells a series of back and forth trips into the past undertaken by Mathias, a 20-year-old young man searching for his mother, who mysteriously disappeared during the Covid pandemic. With his uncle Leo, an eccentric inventor, he embarks on a quest, aboard a capricious time machine, which often has the wrong objectives. Both cross eras, meet significant figures and explore key moments in History.
This show, staged by Cédric Chapuis and Carole Chauvy, with choreography by Jérémy Marquet, invites around fifteen artists, who were handpicked during the casting organized by the casino. Versatile, they know how to sing, dance and act, and flit from one scene to another with virtuosity, changing style each time. They take us on this epic journey through Russia, the disco years, the First World War, where we meet Louis Pasteur and Napoleon. Each scene is a real painting, with careful decorations and costumes.
This incredible adventure is punctuated by the caustic humor of Marcel, the naive neighbor, and by the ingenuity of Eva, a journalist who loves thrills. These colorful characters bring a touch of lightness and emotion to this odyssey. “Just in time!” also offers a reflection on family ties and resilience, and makes it possible to reach all audiences. The soundtrack is a repertoire of timeless hits, from “Encore un matin”, by Jean-Jacques Goldman, to “Rasputine” by ABBA, including “Born to be alive” by Patrick Hernandez, “La Crowd” , by Edith Piaf, Queen and Alain Souchon.
