Olivier Daillut, president of the “La Gardarem” association who will tell us about the 1st edition of the Nov’estivada festival which will take place on July 26 and 27 in Sébazac in Aveyron.
In the winter of 2023, the disappearance of the Estivada de Rodez was announced, causing disappointment among many defenders of Occitan culture. Olivier Daillut, president of the association La Gardarem, expressed this feeling of loss of identity. The collective “Gardarem l’Estivada” quickly collected more than 5,500 signatures for a petition.
Nov’estivada, the festival of renewal
According to Olivier Daillut, nothing should be built on resentment. This is why the collective transformed itself into the Association La Gardarem, with the aim of creating something new while preserving the Occitan identity. They chose to reclaim the name ESTIVADA, synonymous with conviviality and sharing.
After a year of work, the association is organizing a forum-festival in Sébazac, near Rodez, on July 26 and 27, 2024. Called Nòv’Estivada, this edition aims to relaunch a pan-Occitan, multidisciplinary, popular and free festival. Olivier Daillut explains that this format will allow the festival to be reappropriated in a spirit of Convivéncia, the art of living together while respecting otherness.

Thanks to the support of many members and partners such as the Institut d’Estudis Occitans, as well as the financial support of the Occitanie Region, the ambition of a great Occitan festival is becoming a reality. On July 26 and 27, La Gardarem invites everyone to the Nòv’Estivada, a festival with a rich and varied program: music, storytelling, theater, balèti, publishers’ fair, and more. All the shows will be new and free, because culture must be shared.
In addition to the programming, the La Gardarem association invites you to imagine the festival of tomorrow, designed democratically, taking into account societal issues to create an event by and for people, where the spectator becomes an actor in culture.
