Two years after his Oscar slap, a song. American actor Will Smith unveiled his new title “You Can Make It” this Friday, June 28, a song that evokes, among other things, the incident that pitted him against comedian Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars ceremony.

In a rap typical of the titles to which he has accustomed the public, Will Smith returns to this moment which earned him to be excluded from any Oscar ceremony for ten years: “Believe me, they tried to bleed Will Smith, but looking back, I tell myself that this adversity was a gift to raise me higher.” At his side, the American rapper Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir, a gospel group produced by Kanye West.

“Music has always been there for me”

“From the madness, from these meanders (…) the darkest night ends up turning into day, and every storm ends up running out of rain, so hold on,” he continues, before concluding: “ Everyone carries their cross, but in this fire that falls there is wisdom and every moment is an opportunity to be seized, so enjoy the journey.”

In the caption of a video posted on Instagram, where we can see him performing his title on the piano, he wrote: “In the hardest moments of my life, music has always been there for me, to carry me and help me grow. I humbly hope that it can do the same for you and bring you all the joy and light that you deserve.”

With this new title, the 55-year-old actor can ride on the success and the great momentum of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die”, the fourth part of the saga released on June 5. He is due to perform his new song this Sunday evening at the BET Awards ceremony, which rewards artists from the African-American community.
