NCIS: “I learned it the hard way” … Cote De Pablo (Ziva) reflects on the unexpected reprimand of Mark Harmon (Gibbs) – News Series

Alongside the NCIS spin-off based on the characters of Ziva and DiNozzo, their performers launched their own podcast called “Off Duty.” The opportunity for them to watch all the episodes of the flagship CBS series and to reveal multiple anecdotes about the filming.

And very recently, Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly hosted Sean Murray who plays Tim McGee. A worthy guest! It was during this very special moment that the actress made some unexpected revelations about Mark Harmon (Gibbs).

She explains : “You shouldn’t take sick leave. I learned that the hard way. When I arrived, in season 3, I was really, really sick. I had a doctor come to my house and I had a terrible fever. He told me, ‘You can’t go to work.'”

“I told myself that if the doctor told me I couldn’t go to work, I had to follow his instructions. So I made the big mistake of staying home and when I returned to the set, Mark came see me he was still nice but he was strict and he told me that I had to come on set and that it was up to them to decide if I was sick or not.”

She goes on to explain: “‘You have to come in and then we’ll decide how to handle it.’ I don’t think I got sick again after that, actually. But mentally, I think it does something. And when you think about it, anybody can do their job when they’re sick, whether they do it well or not. But nobody can play McGee or DiNozzo for you.”

Ziva’s interpreter concludes: “So you always have to be present and it’s a monstrous pressure.” Fortunately, this little reprimand did not damage the good relationship between Cote de Pablo and of Mark Harmon !
