Behind the scenes of the theatre company, costumes for the latest creations are made in the new workshop.

Through creations, donations and purchases, the Boîte à jouer company ended up with a beautiful collection of costumes, haberdashery items and other accessories. “This constitutes a huge stock, which we were not making the most of due to lack of inventory,” admits Victor Campa. The good thing about the lockdown was that the time available finally allowed this inventory to be taken. “At that time, people also brought us a lot of pieces.” A source of inspiration for the troupe’s creations, which led to the launch of a real sewing workshop within the theater house at the beginning of the year.

Carla Bonnegarde-Delisle thus added to her acting hat that of costume designer of the troupe, supported by the skills of Josselyne and many little hands. She also currently benefits from the significant help of Manon Viotto, a high school student preparing for a technical diploma in entertainment professions. “The workshop not only allows us to restore costumes before the summer tour, but also to create those for new shows. This is particularly the case for the show “Antigone” which will be performed under the cloister,” explains Victor.

To revisit this myth of Antiquity, Victor not only drew inspiration from Sophocles and Anouilh, but also had fun mixing eras to highlight the modernity of the heroine and the subject. He thus played on the clichés attached to Antiquity that he pinched with modernity, like the universe of Star Wars. In the end, the director promises a show “for the family, a tragedy not devoid of humor, with a lot of music too”. The cloister will serve as a setting for this creation in an innovative scenography, in the spirit of amphitheaters.

In its summer program which will run from July 16 to August 16, the Condom troupe will open its week on Tuesday in Cassaigne with “The king is dying” according to Ionesco, will therefore play “Antigone” in Condom on Wednesday, will go on tour on Thursday with his “D’Artagnan my hero” and “Oliver Twist”, and will present “Embrassons-nous Folleville” in Eauze.
