Graduation is a big moment for young adults who are turning over a significant page. In Denmark, the festivities that follow the graduation ceremony are almost a rite of passage. Crown Prince Christian is celebrating with his classmates on Friday, wearing his graduation cap and parading through the streets of Copenhagen in a truck.

Christian from Denmark respects the traditions of Danish graduates while avoiding excesses

On June 24, 2024, Crown Prince Christian, 18, learned of his academic success and was surrounded by his parents, King Frederik X and Queen Mary, to receive his results. Crown Prince Christian returned to Ordrup High School on Friday, the last day of the school year, to receive his diploma and celebrate with his friends.

High school graduates wear the student cap, a white cap with a black visor. The friends then bite each other’s edge of the visor to mark it with their teeth. Different ceremonies and other rituals are respected depending on the establishment. This Friday, June 28, Crown Prince Christian intends to respect them.

This day between comrades in the streets of Copenhagen is scrutinized by the press

As the celebrations take place outdoors, the Danish press is on the lookout and hopes to capture some funny images. The day started well, with the arrival of the graduates’ truck. A truck transformed into a float and adorned with banners is used to transport graduate students who will cross Copenhagen in a procession. Needless to say, the banners covering the float include the most saucy slogans and drawings.

Alcohol and tobacco are also on the menu, which did not escape the attention of the Danish press, which filmed a security guard following the prince in the morning, offering him a box of snus. The snus is a moist tobacco that is kept in the mouth by placing it between the lip and the gum. After the article published in a famous online magazine, the Royal Court reacted by specifying that the agent was discussing with the crown prince and he would have refused, as we can see on a video which is circulating.

During his studies, Crown Prince Christian has already been the subject of controversy, particularly during school trips where the party was a little too boozy. This Friday, Christian knows he is being watched and it is certain that he will be extra careful to maintain an irreproachable attitude. Since January, Christian has been the heir to the throne, which exposes him even more to the press who are waiting for him at the turn.
