Jeremy Renner felt his skull crack during his snowplow accident.
The actor had his chest and legs pulverized by a snowplow while trying to stop it from ploughing into his nephew on New Year’s Day 2023, and he’s now given the much more graphic details about it.
He told Men’s Health: “I remember my head crashing into the vehicle and it was squeezing me—that’s exactly what you think it feels like. An immovable object and a crushing force, and something has to give. But thank God my skull didn’t completely give way. And then it kept going. The cheekbone broke, the eye socket broke, and the crushing of the machine caused my eye to expand. I could see my left eye with my right eye. I was screaming for air.”
Jeremy goes on to explain how he fought to survive: “I wasn’t breathing. It’s hard to use your stomach muscles when you have 14 broken ribs and a burst lung. I didn’t know that at the time. time, but I just needed air. The first five minutes were spent trying to breathe. I started to get very tired. Jeremy spent 12 days in an intensive care unit after the ordeal.
He added: “Showering, going to the toilet – everything was a disaster. They give you medication so you don’t go to the toilet and you get constipated. And you pee in a jar. It was horrible. That’s when you know things aren’t right – you’re peeing in a plastic jar. It took me 17 minutes to get out of bed. To shower took me half a day. Your hair gets super greasy and gross and you stink, but I had all these staples that I couldn’t get wet, and I wasn’t going to risk infection. So I had sponge baths.”
