It is at Combe du Château in Baneuil, Sunday June 16, that the new project of Benoit Maury and Laurine Chaton (read “Sud Ouest” of June 9) — that of creating a cultural place in the broadest sense of the term — began to take shape. Those who wished were invited to the very first tanguette, a festive tavern organized by the Tangram (read below), in partnership with the Théâtre du roi de coeur de Bergerac.

Benoit Maury, a young entrepreneur, bought an old family house, close to the castle. “This house will require a lot of work, despite its good general condition,” underlines Vincent Heynard, an architect in Bordeaux and Lindois by birth, accompanied by Flavien Dix-neuf, the project manager.

Cultural hostel

This first day was festive with pony rides by the Le Cheval Otherwise association, followed by a “Premier Empire” show given by the Théâtre du roi de coeur de Bergerac. In the evening, the Queen Bees gave a concert.

Then, Benoit Maury wanted to present the Tangram to the public: it is this slightly crazy project of renovating a building to create a cultural hostel. His goal? To make a collective project, open to all, a place for and by the inhabitants, with accommodation with the creation of rooms, or even an artist residence, an associative café, a citizen Coop, etc.

QR Codes installed everywhere allowed the public to register, or participate, according to their means, but also to offer volunteering, by sharing their skills, because constant and strong hands will be required. The young owner is supported by the Fondation de France, the objective being to minimize bank financing. The bulk of the work will begin at the end of the summer and will last approximately six months.
