On BFMTV, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra says she “wishes” the presence of Céline Dion on July 26 in Paris, while the Canadian star has put her career on hold due to a neurological illness.
“It’s part of the hypotheses.” Asked about the potential appearance of Céline Dion during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Minister of Sports believes that “it is within the realm of possibility”.
“Personally, I wish so,” adds Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.
However, she tempers by recalling that “this type of decisions are taken by Tony Estanguet and by Thomas Joly, the artistic director of the ceremonies”.

Celine Dion unveiled the documentary this Tuesday, June 25 I am: Celine Dion, a Prime Video feature film centered on her fight against stiff person syndrome, a neurological disease which affects her voice and which forced her to put her career on hold. “And I haven’t found my voice. I miss the music a lot. But also the people. I miss them,” says the Canadian star.
Consequently, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra says she would like her presence “for the artistic dimension that she embodies”.
In an interview broadcast on TF1 on June 16, Céline Dion promised to “return to the stage”. “I don’t know when, but I’m going to come back on stage,” she said.
