The prize-giving ceremony for the Miguel de Cervantes Association competition, created in 1986 and chaired by Yves Ripol, was held at the beginning of the week at the departmental hotel in Montauban. The ceremony was attended by the president of the departmental council, Michel Weill, and José Gonzalez. As a reminder, the aim of this competition is to defend and promote the Hispanic language and culture, and is open to Hispanic students in the second cycle.

Many people were present, parents, friends, relatives of students from different middle and high schools throughout the Tarn-et-Garonne department, who came to support the winners after an absence of 3 years, due to covid. For the first time, this competition took place at the Montauban university center with the help of the departmental council, awarding scholarships and prizes to the best participants.

This is how 3rd grade students from the colleges of Beaumont, Castelsarrasin, Caussade, Grisolles, Labastide-Saint-Pierre, Lafrançaise, Lauzerte, Montauban, Montech, Nègrepelisse, St Antonin and Valence d’Agen received a prize.

Six second year high school students were awarded prizes with, for the first 3, a scholarship ranging from 100 to 250 euros, the same for the first and final high school students who received among the two tied a scholarship of 200 euros and for the first a scholarship of 300 euros. Another student, winning a special mention, was also awarded a scholarship of 100 euros.

After all these awards, which were well deserved and demonstrated the interest and expertise of the young students in the Spanish language, a souvenir photo was taken on the steps of the Château Montauriol followed by a friendly drink.
