Paramount+ has unveiled the first trailer for “Zorro”, the series hosted by Jean Dujardin, which will soon arrive on Paramount+ and France Télévision.

Jean Dujardin’s Zorro finally shows himself

Announced in 2022, series Zorro with Jean Dujardin was starting to drag on. Even though the project was quite unexpected, once launched, it seemed obvious. Because we remember that the French actor had already played Don Diego de la Vega for an episode of season 2 of Plane tree. Even so, the ambition is different with this creation by Benjamin Charbit (Under control) and Noé Debré (Parliament), who co-wrote the show with Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud. Few elements had been revealed until now, except in particular a synopsis which announced that, in the series, the masked hero will return to business after a break of 20 years!

It is therefore an “aging” Zorro, who thought he had put aside his role as a vigilante in favor of a position as mayor of Los Angeles, who we will discover here. The story will take place in 1821 and will see Don Diego de la Vega trying to reconcile his dual identity as Zorro and mayorand not to damage his marriage too much with Gabriella, who obviously knows nothing of his secret…

An encouraging first trailer

Also worn by Audrey Dana, Salvatore Ficarra, André Dussollier, Eric Elmosnino and Grégory Gadebois, the series Zorro finally shows itself in a concrete way with a first teaser (video on the front page of an article) posted online by Paramount+. We thus discover the tone of the program, which will mix action and comedy, without falling into parody. A delicate balance that the writers seem to have found. Visually, these images are also convincing, with settings that don’t look cheap and Jean Dujardin who appears very comfortable in Zorro’s costume – well, despite the squeaking of his boots.

If this first trailer is rather engaging, we will have to wait a little longer before we can discover Zorro on our screens. Composed of 8 episodes of 40 minutes, season 1 will be broadcast first on Paramount+ starting September 6. Subsequently, the show will be offered by France Télévision.
