“The people around me have always been kind and welcoming,” remembers Maude Ricard, Miss Basque Country 2024

Maude Ricard will soon return her crown of Miss Basque Country, won in last February. The 20-year-old young woman, a DUT marketing techniques student in , still has a few months to wear the scarf. To her greatest happiness, she will honor a few appointments for the end of year holidays, even if since the start of the school year in September, the Angloye has gone to study in Alicante, in Spain.

“I am doing my semester abroad as part of my third year of studies in co-tech,” she confides from the capital of the Costa Blanca. I chose Spain because I speak the language and I subsequently plan to realize my childhood dream: to become a flight attendant. After my three years of DUT, I will have a year of training, between theory and practice, to make my wish come true…”

“Into the unknown”

The wish she didn’t make when she was little was to find herself Miss Basque Country! “No, not at all, it happened a bit by chance, I was pushed by my family, my mother and looking back, I admit that it was a fantastic experience! I launched myself into the unknown, I had never spoken in front of hundreds of people, nor even posed in a swimsuit in front of people! On stage, I revealed myself and when I was elected, I was very happy. »

“Running with the scarf around my neck was great. The people around were all kind”

Maude Ricard took part in the Miss Aquitaine election, at Futuroscope in , in October, along with 15 other misses. “I was not selected for the Miss election (read elsewhere), but I have fond memories of the evening and strong bonds with new friends. »

The event that had the most impact on the young woman was her participation in the Odysséa race, in Bayonne. “Already, the cause (the fight against breast cancer, Editor’s note) is close to my heart, and above all I wanted to participate in the 5 km race. I was very sporty before high school, I played handball, and now, running with the scarf around my neck was great. The people around were all kind. »

L’Angloye was delighted with the reception given during each of its outings. “I really had attentive people, like during the inauguration of the renovated tomb of Agnès Souret, first Miss France, in Espelette or on the Bayonne Festival balcony for the associations day. For a first experience of public life, it was really instructive and I am proud to have taken up this challenge of the election of Miss Basque Country…”
