Justin Timberlake says he didn’t drink much before he was arrested for drunk driving.
The artist told the arresting officer that he had only one drink after being stopped by police in Sag Harbor, New York, in the early hours of the Tuesday day.
According to documents seen by PEOPLE, the singer told authorities, “I drank a martini and followed my friends home.”
The report claims the pop star ran a stop sign and failed to “stay on the right side of the road.”
The arresting officer observed that the star’s eyes were “bloodshot and glassy, that a strong odor of liquor emanated from his breath, that he was unable to divide his attention, that “his speech was slurred, he was unsteady, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
After being taken to the police station, the report was read aloud to the singer.
He said, “No, I won’t do a chemical test.”
After being read the report two more times, Justin replied again: “I refuse [de me soumettre à un test chimique]”.
The star was charged with drunk driving. He also received two tickets, one for running a stop sign and the other for failing to respect his lane.
He was released after being held overnight for his arraignment. He is now expected in court on July 26.
