More than 250 interventions in Aubange

The consequences of the storms were quickly felt: many streets were underwater, making traffic impossible and causing flooding in cellars and on the roads. Firefighters stepped up their interventions to help residents trapped in their homes.

The mayor of Aubange, François Kinard, triggered the municipal emergency phase. He was still on the ground at around 4:30 a.m.: “There were more than 250 open interventions on Aubange on the side of the rescue zone, coordination was set up with the police zone in relation to the roads to be blocked, a room was prepared to shelter people if necessary.”

No injuries reported

Faced with the urgency of the situation, the municipality of Aubange had published a message at 11 p.m. on social networks to encourage its citizens to stay at home. In addition, a communal hall was made available for people requiring temporary rehousing.

Despite the extent of the material damage, there were no injuries, thanks to the efficiency and speed of the emergency services’ interventions.

Residents of Aubange and the surrounding area will now have to turn to clean-up and repair operations as local authorities continue to assess the damage caused by the night of devastating storms.

The municipality of Aubange has posted a series of recommendations for its citizens.
