Gossip, love and sensuality: an explosive cocktail that has given rise to many television intrigues. Presented upon its release as a sort of “Gossip Girl” in 19th century England, “The Bridgerton Chronicles” quickly attracted a passionate audience and the first two seasons sat comfortably in the top 10 most watched programs. on Netflix.

For this third season, the camera turns to Colin Bridgerton, the third child of the siblings, and illustrates the slow evolution of a friendly relationship into a passionate love story with Penelope Featherington. And if the two lovebirds finally found each other at the end of the first part, will their romance survive the heavy secret hidden deep in Penelope’s heart?

So, before discovering the rest of their adventures, let’s dive back into what made the first part so charming and what we’re looking forward to from this sequel.

The great Nicola Coughlan

Born in 1987 in Galway, Republic of Ireland, Nicola Coughlan is undoubtedly THE star of this new season. In the role of Penelope, the most sympathetic member of the Featherington family, neighbor of the Bridgertons, she exudes a sunny aura imbued with sensitivity. Her character, introverted, often overshadowed by her sisters and hidden under dresses of questionable taste chosen by her mother, finally decides, in this third season, to take charge of her life.

Determined to find a husband to get away from her family, she undergoes the most satisfying of makeovers. This transformation highlights the confidence of the Irish actress. Asked about the courage she shows in portraying on screen people with more generous curves than those dictated by usual beauty standards, she responds with humor, declaring that she is proud to be part of the community of women with a perfect chest.

Won over by her naturalness, fans were able to wait between the two parts of this season, rediscovering her in the brilliant series “Derry Girls” (also on Netflix) and in her latest project “Big Mood”. Today the wait is over and Nicola Coughlan proves once again the full extent of her talent, aided by the perfect alchemy which links her with Luke Newton, interpreter of Colin Bridgerton. We shudder with impatience.

Lady Whistledown’s secret identity

“Dearest reader, did you miss me?” (“Dear reader, did you miss me?”). These words, spoken with mischief by the voice of the great actress Julie Andrews (“Mary Poppins”, “The Sound of Music”), arouse the passions of hordes of fans of the series and make the characters sweat with apprehension. Her pen name: Lady Whistledown. His subtle and piquant tongue has deflated many oversized egos and regularly throws the most respected members of high society into fodder for a gossip-hungry population.

Penelope Featherington knows it particularly well: Lady Whistledown is her! Her secret identity, discovered in the previous season by Éloïse Bridgerton, her dearest friend, is still hidden from the general public, but for how much longer? Indeed, from Queen Charlotte herself to Colin Bridgerton, the words of the most “Gossip Girl” of society columnists have fueled the increasingly passionate wrath of a community ready to do anything to unmask her.

And while her love story with the third Bridgerton son finally takes off, Penelope has a lot to worry about. The questions are flying! Will she succeed in hiding her secret? How will Colin react? Will Eloise forgive him? To find out the answers, jump into the series right away.

Big and small romances

The torments of love and passion occupy a special place at the heart of “The Bridgertons Chronicle”. Each season focuses on the time of year when parents of large families seek to marry off their offspring. All politeness and dictated by very specific codes of decorum, the young people court each other. So, while Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, got closer in the first season, Anthony Bridgerton fell under the spell of Kate Sharma in the second.

For the first part of the third, it was Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington who, through thick and thin, ended up getting engaged. And if their story is far from over, it is accompanied, in the background, by several other little romances that we are impatient to find again. Indeed, this season is not short of idylls, built on subtle little moments of seduction. Thus, Violette, the matriarch of the Bridgerton family, already expressed in the series “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Chapter” her nascent and uncontrolled desire for physical passion. The arrival of the attractive Lord Marcus Anderson, brother of Lady Danbury, could well be the sign she has been waiting for.

But while, for their part, Prudence and Philippa, Penelope’s sisters, seek to have children, it is above all the adorable budding romance between Francesca Bridgerton and John Stirling which attracts all our attention. The few scenes they had shared, comfortably installed in complicit silence, had breathed a breath of fresh air into a series in which good words and long conversations regularly take a prominent place. So, curious to know how this will all evolve?
