From La Roche-sur-Yon to the coast, Trivalis raises tourist awareness about waste sorting on vacation

Like the three musketeers, there are four of them: Hélène, Laure, Leïla and Marine.

After specific Trivalis training, the facilitators of the Trivaou team, named after the application for sort the wasteall armed with solid environmental backgrounds, will travel the Vendée coast from north to souththis summer.

With their Together let’s reduce our waste t-shirts, their bicycles and their electric cargo bikes, they set off from La Roche-sur-Yon to meet tourists and other users, from June 24 to August 28. They will position themselves in the most frequented places – embankments, ports, tourist sites, markets – in short “places where people have a little time, unlike going out to the beaches”, comments Damien Grasset, president of Trivalis.

This is the second operation of this type.

The first, in 2023, made it possible to raise awareness among 17,000 tourists.

From this first operation, many questions arose concerning the practices for sorting and reducing waste from tourists other departments, often less advanced in this area, sometimes with different sorting instructions.

Who wants to earn bullion?

Generally speaking, tourists are ready to sort, but vacation spots are not always suitable in terms of equipment, trash cans for example, and precise sorting instructions.

Actions are now being taken by Trivalis towards tourist offices, outdoor hotels and rental companies to allow tourists to properly sort their waste.

Experiments are underway, such as that of two campsites on the Vendée coast which have started testing reusable pizza boxes.

This year, the Team Trivaou facilitators will offer a challenge Who wants to win bars? by testing, in the form of games, vacationers’ knowledge around four themes: sorting, reuse of waste, marine pollution and zero waste alternatives.

No gold bars for the best, but, as part of an eco-responsible approach, a bag of organic mogettes from Bellevignythe bags being made by the Esat of La Roche-sur-Yon and Aizenay, from fabrics from recycling.
