As every year for ten years, the “Summer Wednesdays” system allows residents of Pas-de-Calais to go to the beach on a completely free bus. The service serves several towns inland and changes destination every week.

The beach for everyone. Since June 5, 2024, a bus service allows residents of Pas-de-Calais to go to the beach for free every Wednesday. The bus serves in particular the municipalities located inland, far from the coast, reports France 3 Hauts-de-France .

Around thirty communities served

The department’s initiative, called “Summer Wednesdays”has existed for ten years and allows many residents to enjoy the sea – and sometimes to discover it for the first time. “They are taken care of in their community and are taken directly to the beachexplains the vice-president in charge of transport at the departmental council, Jean-Claude Dissaux. It’s still an advantage. It also saves fuel because they don’t take their car. »

Every week, around thirty municipalities are served for a destination that changes each time. The service, which will last until August 21, 2024, is used by nearly 13,000 people each year. Registrations are open until the day before the trip on the dedicated site .
