This country is increasingly establishing itself as a study destination of choice for ambitious international students, rivaling the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. In 2017, it achieved its goal of welcoming 350,000 international students, three years ahead of schedule. According to the latest edition of “Wissenschaftweltoffen”, for the year 2022/2023, out of a total population of 2.8 million students in Germany, 458,210 were international students.

Morocco, 13th nationality represented

With 7,045 students, the Kingdom represented 1.9% of the total international student population in Germany for the 2022/2023 academic year, ranking 13th among countries of origin.

The number of Moroccan students in Germany has seen a notable increase. In 2018/2019, there were 5,297 Moroccan students, or 1.9% of the international student population. This figure increased to 6,195 in 2020/2021 and to 6,573 in 2021/2022. In 2022/2023, the 7,045 Moroccan students represented nearly 2.0% of the international student population.

Over the past five years, Morocco has consistently ranked among the top countries of origin for international students in Germany. In 2019/2020, the number of Moroccan students was 5,555, representing 1.8% of the international student population.

Why Germany?

Several factors explain this enthusiasm for Germany. First, the education system of this state is recognized for its quality and accessibility. Tuition fees are often lower than those in other popular destinations. Which represents a considerable advantage for international students. Additionally, Germany offers a multicultural environment and attractive career prospects after graduation.
