Only ten days left before the Fête de la Musique invades downtown Pau. The municipality presented its program for the 2024 edition this Wednesday. Around twenty local artists will perform throughout the city on June 21. For the occasion, traffic in the city center will be prohibited between Friday 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 a.m. France Bleu Béarn Bigorre details the program.

Detailed programming

The town hall of Pau is organizing this year three concerts in different locations around the city. There will be something for everyone, the municipality has programmed funk, rock and salsa artists. The Oloronian batucada “Les 400 coups” and several brass bands will also wander around the city all evening.

  • Royal Square (7 p.m. – 1 a.m.): Hurry Train (rock), Miss Bee and The Bullfrogs (blues), Papel Mojado (alternative Latino), Lacoloc Kollectif (Dj house, funk);
  • Place Clemenceau (7 p.m.-1 a.m.): Rumba de Calle (salsa, timba), DJs from local associations (salsa);
  • Terrace of the Halles (8 p.m.-11 p.m.): Conservatory with regional influence Pau Béarn Pyrénées (orchestra/fanfare), Paloise Harmony (orchestra).

This year, traders also join the official programming. Six have already come forward. You will find festivities in the afternoon at rue Taylor, at the Kiosque du Parc Beaumont and at the Jardin de la basse plante, and in the evening in the Hédas district, at Place de la Déportation and on rue Valéry Meunier. Note that traders can still register with the Pau town hall to join this official program. Registrations are open until Wednesday June 19.

Plan B in case of rain

To avoid cancellations, the municipality took the lead this year in the event of bad weather. If there were to be storms like last year, the concerts planned at Place Clémenceau as well as the last one at Place Royale would be repatriated 500 meters further to the Carreau des Halles (2,500 seats). The concert of the Pau Béarn Pyrénées Regional Conservatory would be moved to the Théâtre Saint-Louis (400 seats).

The Pau town hall specifies that from 1 a.m., all musicians must stop playing and the devices must be turned off.
