This year the festival is offering a special program around the theme memories of youth. A choice which is not trivial, since it is a question of paying homage to Marcel Pagnol, three of whose biggest hits will be played during the festival. Texts from Jean Giono, Albert Camus, Gustave Flaubert and Romain Gary will also be on the program. In Villeneuve-Loubet, Tuesday August 6, 2024 in the garden of the Pôle Culture Auguste Escoffier at 9 p.m., Robin Renucci will read extracts from “The promise of dawn”, the poignant book by Romain Gary.

Romain Gary “The promise of dawn”, the novel about his childhood, partly in Nice

At the dawn of life, Romain Gary makes a promise to himself: these years that await him, he will place them at the feet of her mother to repair all the suffering she endured. He will try to fulfill all her desires and to compensate with glory for the humiliations that this Russian immigrant, alone and penniless, had to endure in order to be able to proudly submit, every day, the lunch steak on the plate of his only and adored son, reserving only the cooking fat. With admiration, humor and lucidity, this son tells the story of their journey from Poland to Nice.

Entrance is free, seating is free.
