Inspired by the daily lives of women and their struggle to change the world, a Palestinian artist exhibits at the Archipels workshop in Tonnerre

Hayah Kaabneh recounts the daily life and suffering of Palestinian women during an exhibition at the Archipels workshop. Born in 1991 in Jordan, she works mainly in watercolor and acrylic. It bears witness to the condition and fate of Palestinian women in their struggle to change their world.

“After Chiapas, the former African or West Indian colonies, we are continuing our world tour dedicated to the oppressed margins,” explains Ladislas de Monge, owner of the Archipels workshop. This time, visitors are invited to the hottest side of the Middle East, to discover the exhibition by Palestinian artist Hayah Kaabneh entitled “When the world turned its back on us”.

Born in 1991 in Jordan, Hayah Kaabneh works mainly in watercolor and acrylic. It bears witness to the condition and fate of Palestinian women in their struggle to change their world. She is inspired by true stories heard daily by the women in her family and by her friends. She translates the suffering of their narrators through her paintings.

“When there was humanity in the world”

The titles of the artist’s works sound like a state of affairs, both sinister but also full of hope: When I had a house, When there was humanity in the world, When I had a homeland

“Hayah paints and draws the difficulty of women to be, to live or to survive. She speaks to us about them, because art allows it, assures Ladislas de Monge. She presents her place of life against the light. “art is of today, in the state of the world and reveals it to us in mirror form. Its creation is sober, modest, without anger. The melancholy eyes which look at us are black as powder…”

Please note that this exhibition is taking place in partnership with the Palestinian Film Festival which will be held in Tonnerre from June 6 to 11.

Practical. Opening Saturday June 8, from 1 p.m. Exhibition on view until August 10. FREE ENTRANCE.
