Régis-Vidal Park is a place to stroll for lovers of the Cassidian green belt. It is also a place for all athletes, young and old, whatever the discipline they practice. The park is bordered, to the north, by the Cassis tennis & padel des Gorguettes Sporting club, as well as the sports area, to the side, by the intercommunal swimming pool and its swimming lane, but also the treetop adventure course, the skatepark and the modules games for children.
The creation of a one kilometer walking and jogging route, starting from the skatepark fence and extending into the hill, was therefore a logical next step. The municipality asked the children of the municipal youth council to imagine this project, with the help of the National Forestry Office (ONF).
Directional signs and an outdoor fitness area
The young elected officials set out to discover the history of the hills and worked on the rehabilitation of the Mussuguet trail. They created the mascot of this trail, the Sylv’ tree, which will guide athletes over the two kilometers of hiking and allow them to discover the fauna, the flora, the underground riches of the place, the history of the Cassis stone .
At the entrance to the site, a signage is installed indicating information on the route and the location of the equipment. Twelve green wooden directional signs are distributed along the route, indicating the length and direction of travel. At the module level, a balance beam and a giant step are installed near the outdoor fitness development area, created with freely accessible apparatus.
It is made up of three machines for the maintenance and muscular development of the upper limbs, three machines for the lower limbs and cardio, designed for the best comfort of practice. Each device has a flash code to follow the instructions for use and a descriptive panel for the exercises.
The site is equipped with solar-powered lighting, to allow evening training. The modules are placed on a plate, screwed onto an anchoring apron and sealed in studs and a concrete slab. The whole thing is secured by a wooden fence with a gate. The equipment is designed and manufactured in France and the modules come from the Casal company.
