It’s on the podcast microphone Open your gamehosted by Marie-Claude Barrette, that the happy spring spoke of his partner Isabel Philion Labelle, with whom he has a 37-year difference.
The 71-year-old musician admitted that as soon as he met Isabel, it was love at first sight.
“A lot of things were in the way of all this, the age difference first of all, it didn’t make any sense.”
For context, their age difference is equal to the age of Quebec’s Minister of Justice, Simon Jolin-Barrette.

“She’s too young for me, I try to say “listen, you’re way too young for me!”,” the singer recalled with humor. “I was trying to say ‘get older a little’, she’s getting older but so am I!”
Paul clarified that for him, age was not a barrier, but that he felt a judgment from society.
“But now, what do you want to do? We were in love, period. Solid.”
The couple have been together for almost ten years and have a son.
