“We may be at risk of being overwhelmed,” recognizes Michel Buisson, community advisor responsible for health, indicating that he has already received some pre-registrations. “But if we have too many demands, that will actually be a good problem to solve. » At least proof that a message is getting across: food and health are closely linked. “The period of the first 1,000 days is a key period in the development of the child,” recalls Xavier Bonnefont, the president. Hence the need to favor organic foods during this period.

The baskets are aimed at women from three months of pregnancy. To register, you need a prescription from a midwife, a general practitioner or a gynecologist (1). You must also commit to participating in two cooking and environmental health awareness workshops and pay a contribution of €20.

“We will have to find land, project leaders…”

Three delivery points have been set: the Lolmède terrace in downtown Angoulême, the Moulin de l’abbaye in La Couronne and Lagora in Gond-Pontouvre, where distributions of vegetable baskets already take place every week. “We are thinking about the problem of distance and schedules,” observes Michel Buisson. We are in the process of seeing to what extent the municipalities could be relays. »

To fill the baskets, GrandAngoulême called on the Maison d’agriculture agricole and the Paysans Charente bio network, which brings together around fifteen local market gardeners. A point of vigilance is raised: “With 100 baskets per week, all the conditions are met to saturate the existing network of market gardeners, judges Baptiste Brigot, the co-president of Paysans Charente bio. We will have to find land, project leaders, train them… This requires racking our brains. » A great challenge for Vincent You, vice-president of agricultural strategy.

Among the other partners of this system: the Soyaux clinic and the Angoulême hospital center. The cooking workshops will be provided by Katia Jacquel from Jardins d’Isis and Caroline Bayle from the Esprit Culinaire association.
