A letter describing chilling remarks was found this Tuesday in the classroom of a high school in Libourne, in GirondeThe recipient, a teacher, had already been the subject of similar threats in December 2023, reported South West.
The news has caused a stir in the educational community. A teacher at the Jean-Monnet high school in Libourne (Gironde) was once again the target of death threats. A letter was found in a classroom on Tuesday, September 10, confirmed Loïs Raschel, the public prosecutor of Libourne, indicating that:An investigation has been opened into charges of death threats against a person charged with a public service mission committed on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nation or religion.
“Nauseating remarks”
In December 2023, The teacher had already received death threats : a letter found in his office with “nauseating remarks” threatened to “slit his throat like a pig” and promised to “bleed them (the students, editor’s note) like his grandfather’s pigs”, explained one of the CGT representatives of the school establishment.
Call for murder for racist motiveshad then triggered a level 3 alert to the rectorate, for “serious and imminent danger”. Furthermore, the latter had then announced the implementation of regular visits by law enforcement near the establishment, from amobile security team in the establishment as well as a listening cell.
For this second incident, the educational team has not decided on a communicationaccording to a union representative from the high school. However, according to the same union, The school’s teachers are expected to meet this Wednesday to decide on a reaction to these new threats.
