A teacher at the Jean Monnet high school in Libourne (Gironde) is once again the target of death threats and racist insults in a letter found in a classroom on Tuesday, reports France Bleu Gironde. The Libourne prosecutor’s office announced that it had opened a new investigation on Tuesday into the heads of “death threats against a person carrying out a public service mission, committed on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nation or religion”The investigation is entrusted to the Libourne research brigade.

This teacher had already received, in December, an anonymous openly racist letter threatening her with “slit his throat like a pig” as well as “all” original students “Arab”Classes were then suspended, with half of the school’s teachers deciding to exercise their right to withdraw.

This time, classes were not suspended, but systematic searches were put in place at the entrance to the high school. The rectorate assures France Bleu Gironde that it is taking “the situation very seriously”with this reinforced security system. Several teams are on site and a link is maintained with the police while the investigation continues. Concerning the situation of the professor concerned, very affected, the services of the department assure that they will accompany her so as not to leave her alone in this ordeal.

The management of Jean Monnet high school does not wish to comment at this stage. “We must continue to talk about it, but the media exposure of the last letter has not been easy for all teachers to take.”explains a union representative.
