In terms of music, Slimane doesn’t do things by halves and he recently proved it. Chosen to represent France at Eurovision 2024, the 34-year-old singer put all the chances on his side to finish in the top. He finally came 4th, just off the podium. Slimane can however be proud of his performance which he had worked on for a long time and intensely as we could see on social networks. Excerpts from his passage and his song had been revealed and showed Slimane, dressed all in white, singing a cappella in a captivating voice, reasoning in a room plunged into darkness. Although he missed the victory, Slimane still won everything. A world tour has been announcedtickets quickly sold out and he is the 4th artist (with Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones and Mylène Farmer) to see his best-of enter number 1 on the top album in France.

This Thursday, June 6, it was in a completely different space that Slimane made people talk about him. Esmeralda’s dad gave a little wink to his darling daughter by organizing a happening on the square in front of Notre-Dame de Paris In the evening. Slimane arrived on a motorbike, stood in front of the cathedral, once again dressed in white, holding a sign “What about peace?” which will be the title of his next album – placed near him. After settling in, Slimane performed his new title, Resist (a call for peace), accompanied by choristers. The sequence was even filmed. The reason for the presence of cameras? The immortalized images will be used for the music video for the song which will be released soon.

Slimane sings for peace

Interviewed by BFM TV, Slimane explained the reasons for this little madness which pleased him as much as the fans: “Why this song? I don’t think I need to explain it. I feel like we need it. Why here? Because I have the chance to make this song with friends of mine who are of the Jewish faith. I am of Muslim faith. We are in front of Notre-Dame. Notre-Dame is also asylum, it is peace. I think it was important to do it there. It was for peace.

This little improvised sequence in the heart of Paris was not to displease the Ile-de-France residents and the lucky tourists passing by at the same time: “He was truly incredible, I had chills, I felt full of emotions“said a passerby.”We really liked it at Eurovision, so when we saw it, wow” said a second at the microphone of BFM TV. No doubt, the surprise effect is indeed successful and the result already looks incredible.
