Prince William on the 80th anniversary of the Landing: he will quickly leave France for a very personal reason

After Portsmouth this Wednesday June 5, where he began the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Landing with his father, King Charles III, and his mother-in-law, Queen Camilla, Prince William joined France this Thursday June 6, and notably the beaches of Juno and Omaha to attend two ceremonies organized for this anniversary. The father of the family, who must travel without his wife, Kate Middleton, who remained in England to continue her treatment for her cancer, will return quickly for a very personal reason: the marriage of Hugh Grosvenor.

According to royal correspondent Rebecca English, present on site at Juno Beach for the Canadian commemorations, Charles III, Camilla and Prince William will therefore leave France this evening quickly so that the latter attends the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor this Friday, June 7. The father of Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, who recently confided that his wife was doing better, indeed has a special role at the wedding of George’s godfather: he is an “usher” or “placer” in French. A key attribution in this type of marriage. Indeed, the Prince of Wales will welcome, on behalf of the bride and groom, the guests when they enter the cathedral.

Prince William, sole representative of the royal family?

Very friendly with Prince William and Prince Harry, Hugh Grosvenor, the seventh Duke of Westminster, one of the greatest fortunes in England, will only see the eldest attend his wedding to Olivia Henson. In fact, the youngest of King Charles III declined the invitation. According to the magazine Peoplerelayed by the Daily Mail, Prince Harry’s non-appearance stems from an “understanding between two friends”, according to a Source. A close friend of the future bride and groom said that Meghan Markle’s husband and the Duke of Westminster had reached an agreement. This decision certainly helped prevent rumors from swarming if the two brothers had both attended the wedding, as they have not spoken to each other for months. Hugh Grosvenor, 33, and his family have long had close ties to the royal family, spanning generations. He is notably the godfather of Prince George, 10 years old, the eldest son of William and Kate, and of Prince Archie, 5 years old. The Duke of Westminster is himself the godson of King Charles III and his mother, Natalia, the Dowager Duchess of Westminster, is the godmother of Prince William. The eldest child of Elizabeth II will not attend the wedding, as he continues to undergo treatment for his cancer and will only just return from his first trip abroad of the year.
