French politician and economist, Ariel Weil has also been mayor of central Paris since 2020. A role that the Socialist Party exercises with all its heart, and which sometimes leads it to lose its temper rather… violently.

This is evidenced by this video, which has been widely shared on social media. It shows Delphine Horvilleur’s partner flying into a rage after a man had clearly insulted him. He walks up to him, threatens to “punch him in the mouth” before insulting him in a very virulent manner.

“Tell me that again!” To me ! To me ! »

On June 21, a demonstration against anti-Semitism took place in Paris. Ariel Weil, the socialist mayor of Paris Centre, was there to lead it. During the rally, a far-right activist kept yelling “accomplice, associate, traitor”. He accused him of collusion with LFI. LFI, whose founder, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, had played down the problem of anti-Semitism by saying that it was “residual in France.”

Being related to the leader of La France Insoumise made Ariel Weil mad with rage. Hearing the man’s insinuations, he dropped the microphone and went down very calmly at first. He advanced towards the man who had made the vile remarks. This is where he released all his rage.
“You asshole, are you insulting me? Do you want me to punch you in the mouth?”he said, getting very close to her face. “You bastard, you’re insulting me!” » he repeated while, on stage, one of his colleagues indicated the imminent speech of the Minister of Justice Éric Dupont Morreti. Before returning to the stage, he threatened the man one last time:
“Tell me that again!” To me ! To me ! You better not come back my way! » he shouted.

The mayor of Paris Centre responds to the controversy: “Of course, I’m wrong to get carried away, I’m falling into the trap”

A few days later, the councilor returned to this outburst: “I didn’t know him at the time I lost my temper. The first time, I discreetly told him to stop. What we don’t see in the montage. It was afterwards that, mad with rage, I told him that he deserves a fist in the face”he declared to the
Parisian.
Looking back, he believes he “gave in” to emotion. “Obviously, I am wrong to get carried away, I am falling into the trap set for me by a person who came to disrupt a gathering without any shame towards the pain of the family and the public.”

The mayor of central Paris also specified that the man in question was, among other things, currently under investigation for: “a large-scale fraud”. “He supports the National Rally. He comes to attack the Jewish authorities, whose leaders, I remind you, refuse any link with the RN”he informed.
