Jean-Pierre Ferland in earnest: “we listen to his songs differently than before”

Humor, kindness, love of people. A sincere desire to bring words to life in their most beautiful light, set to the most engaging melodies. This is how Jean-Pierre Ferland was described by his family, his friends and the people who admired him throughout his career.

Exhibited in ardent chapel at the Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, in Montreal, Jean-Pierre Ferland’s urn was just one of the objects that littered the table lined with a thousand yellow flowers.

We lose a friend who finds himself at a level above us, he watches us, we listen to his songs differently than before, we pay more attention to the words, to his music, to his interpretation. We are more sensitive to his writing. It’s like we’re hearing his songs in slow motion.

A quote from Paul Dupont-Hébert

When a taxi driver who was not at all familiar with Ferland’s work asked him how he would describe him, Paul Dupont-Hébert replied: hits his ears all his life. He knew how to put on revolutionary shows.”,”text”:”He’s like Quebec’s Elton John. The little king of quality pop. Ear-full hits all his life. He knew how to put on revolutionary shows.”}}”>It’s like the Quebec Elton John. The little king of quality pop. Of the hits full of ears all his life. He knew how to put on revolutionary shows.

He hopes that his faithful friend will be remembered as a funny man close to nature.

I gave him his horse, his dog, his chickens, flowers, trees, he listed. He was a good cook who liked to entertain and what we don’t know about him is that he had a very good vaudeville burlesque side. A very talented comedian.

Louis Théberge from La Pocatière was the first to arrive on the scene to pay his respects to Jean-Pierre Ferland. Which song did he like the most? In my soul and inside my head, there was once a little king he began to sing.

The admirer worked for 35 years at the Cégep de La Pocatière as a cultural facilitator and he remembers a questions and songs dinner organized in the presence of Jean-Pierre Ferland a few years ago.

Mr. Ferland told me that he had heard of a breed of short-legged and rather rare horses that we had in an equestrian center, he remembered. I made a few calls to my contacts and arranged for him to visit that same day. He was fulfilled.

He was a comedian who often brought us together at his house. He never sang at our family gatherings, except once at 60e my parents’ wedding anniversary. He had composed The Golden Wedding. That was the first and last time we heard him sing in our extended family.

A quote from Monique Ferland

In his last interviews, we heard him doubt a lot about what his legacy would be, but I think that, undeniably, he was an extremely important cultural catalyst.added Ginette Ferland.
