The national socio-economic situation in 2024 continued to show a clear recovery trend. Specifically, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2024 increased by 7.09% compared to the previous year and this rate is only lower than the levels recorded in 2018, 2019 and 2022 during the period 2011 -2024, according to Nguyên Thi Huong, head of the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Vietnam’s economic size at current prices has reached USD 476.3 billion. GDP per capita was $4,700, up $377 from 2023. Economy-wide labor productivity was about $9,182/person, up $726.

Still according to the GSO, the agriculture, forestry and agriculture sectors experienced growth of 3.27% in 2024, despite the effects of natural disasters, floods and floods.

Last year, the added value of the agricultural, forestry and aquatic sectors increased by 2.94%, 5.03% and 4.03%, respectively. The added value of the industry increased by 8.32%.

Commercial and tourism activities maintained strong growth dynamics, contributing to the growth of the services sector. The added value of the services sector jumped by 7.38% in 2024, a rate higher than the 6.91% recorded in 2023.

The positive results experienced in 2024 constitute an important premise so that in 2025, the economy can best achieve the objectives of the Five-Year Socio-economic Development Plan for the period 2021-2025. This is a great challenge, which requires joint efforts and consensus from the entire political system, businesses and people across the country, concluded Nguyen Thi Huong.
