A ticket like no other. If everyone knew the denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euros, a brand new note will be put into circulation from July. But unlike all the others, it will be impossible to exchange it for anything, since it will be adorned with a “0” reports Sud-Ouest.
The operation, launched jointly between the State, Oberthur Fiduciaire and Euro Banknote Memory, actually consists of paying tribute, while the landing of June 6, 1944 celebrated its 80th anniversary a few weeks ago. Watermarks, security threads, holograms, although it will have everything of a real note, this zero euro note will be stamped with the image of significant events at the end of the Second World War, such as the appeal of the 18 June 1940 of General De Gaulle, the landing or even the Armistice signed on May 8, 1945, specifies the regional daily.
Unique collections
Produced in 3,000 very precisely numbered copies, the tickets went on sale on February 11. It is still possible to get some, for a few real euros. A product designed for collectors, who can either keep it or exchange it among themselves, but under no circumstances buy anything with it. It is also not uncommon for collector coins or banknotes to be issued. In 2021, coins bearing the image of Asterix and Obelix were launched by the Monnaie de Paris on the occasion of the release of a new album of the adventures of the indomitable Gauls.
