From today, you can buy a Sion – New York, Montreux – Tokyo or Vevey – Mykonos ticket, all in a single ticket. The airline Swiss announced Monday that its Air Rail offer, already available from Lausanne or Friborg via Geneva Airport or from several German-speaking cities via Zurich, was extended to Vevey, Montreux, Sion, Sierre, Visp and Brig.
“This intelligent coupling between rail and air transport promotes an uninterrupted and therefore more relaxed travel experience,” praises a Swiss manager. Customers can therefore choose one of the available stations as their departure or arrival location and book their train and plane journey in one step. The train ticket is valid on the day of flight departure, but also the day before and the next day.
Financially, it may be interesting to look into the offer. We did the test when Lausanne and Friborg were added to the program. Sometimes, the train ticket included in the ticket that includes the flight is cheaper, or even becomes free. Depending on the connections and times, a Geneva – London flight cost exactly the same price as the same Geneva – London flight to which was added a Friborg – Geneva-Airport train ticket.
