Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer each drove in two runs in a seven-run third inning Tuesday, and the Toronto Blue Jays ended their seven-game losing streak with a 9-4 win over the Red Sox from Boston.

With the score tied 2-2, Guerrero doubled to drive in Kevin Kiermaier and Bo Bichette. After Spencer Horwitz hit a single, Springer homered for his sixth game-winning home run of the season to make it 7-2.

Guerrero added a second two-run double in the fourth period and the Toronto team avoided a fifth defeat in as many games this season against their rivals from Massachusetts.

Springer had three hits in a game for the first time since April 23 against the Royals in Kansas City. He has a .196 batting average this season. Kiermaier also placed the ball safely three times.

Kevin Gausman (6-6) allowed four runs, three earned, five hits and one walk in six innings on the mound while striking out five batters in the victory.

Brayan Bello (7-5) had a much tougher day on the mound, allowing seven runs, five hits and three free passes in just 2 1/3 innings. Josh Winckowski allowed two runs in the final six innings.

Three of the Red Sox’s four runs in this game were the result of long balls. Rafael Devers stretched his arms for the 16th time this season, scoring a point in the second. Masataka Yoshida doubled the home favorites’ lead with a double moments later.

Tyler O’Neill also sent a 16th ball out of bounds, producing two runs in the sixth.

The two teams will cross swords for a third and final time in this series on Wednesday. The Blue Jays will then begin a four-game series against the New York Yankees on Thursday at the Rogers Centre.
