Exceptional sale, Saturday November 16, 2024, at the Fontenay-le-Comte auction house (Vendée). The auctioneer, Frank Thélot, assisted by Caroline Velk, expert, will auction various books and documents, old and modern, from various funds including a remainder from the library of the Fontenais collector Dominique Moreau.

653 numbers are in the catalog, distributed as follows: old books from the 16th centurye have XVIIIe century, 19th century bookse century ; wars of Vendée, wars of the West, French Revolution; Poitevin, Vendée & miscellaneous regionalism; modern illustrated books; various books.

A handwritten work by Barnabé Brisson

On the Poitevin and Vendée regionalism side, we note the presence of the sought-after authors: Fillon, Clouzot, Vallette, Cavoleau, Baudouin; the photographer Jules Robuchon… And a unique work dedicated to Barnabé Brisson, his life and his works, entirely handwritten in the 19the century, 494 pages. Barnabé Brisson, Fontenaisian, was a magistrate and jurisconsult, author of the Code of Henry III. He was assassinated after his equivocal conduct during the uprising against Henry III. The work also evokes his private life and life in Fontenay-le-Comte. It is estimated at €100-150.
