COMIC OF THE WEEK – A fascinating historical fresco built like a novel which tells how international law was established in the 20th century.

Where do the notions of “genocide” and “crime against humanity” come from, and how were they introduced into international law in 1945? These are the fascinating questions that Philippe Sands explores in this monumental comic strip, adapted from his book Return to Lembergbestseller in 2017. Anglo-French jurist, law professor, lawyer accustomed to international courts of justice, he knows the subject by heart but does not give a lecture.

This graphic novel looks like a thriller series, but everything is historically, meticulously, true. Lemberg? The city where the main characters of its history crossed paths without meeting, which was called Lemberg when it was part of the Habsburg Empire, Lwow when it became Polish in 1918, then Lvov or Lviv when In 1945 it was attached to Ukraine annexed by the USSR. The story is not simple: it is that of the 20the European century.
