The Under-18 World Championship ended today with a most exciting final between Canada and the United States.

Several of the best players available in the next draft were present, providing a great showcase for NHL scouts.

Midway through the third period, everything fell apart for the Americans. Trevor Connelly showed indiscipline with a check to the head of a Canada player. A move that cost his team a 5-minute major penalty.

Gavin McKenna, Canada’s best player during this tournament, took the opportunity to tie the game:

Cole Beaudoin then propelled Canada ahead 4-3 with a 2nd goal on the same power play:

Tij Iginla added more with a 3rd power play goal:

The Americans then responded with a 4th goal but it was too little too late. Canada maintained its lead and Gavin McKenna scored his third of the match into an empty net to secure the gold medal.
