Brussels Airlines is launching a competition to choose the design of its next “Belgian icon”, a customized Airbus A320 that will join the fleet in March 2025.

Belgian airline Brussels Airlines launched a competition on Tuesday to choose the new design of its next custom aircraft, its new Belgian iconThe public is invited to submit their own designs ahead of a poll that will determine the colours of the future Airbus A320, which will fly from March 2025.

Anyone residing in Belgium or having Belgian nationality, aged 16 or over, is invited from this Tuesday to submit their proposals on the Brussels Airlines website. Like all others Belgian icons of the company, the design must represent Belgium in an original and artistic way. The designs can be sent until September 27, before a jury selects the best ones to submit them to a public poll from October 1 to 11. The selected aircraft will then join the fleet of other customized aircraft in March 2025.

Three Belgian icons are currently part of the Brussels Airlines fleet: Rackhamwhich has been paying tribute to the comic book hero Tintin since 2015, Loveinaugurated this year and produced in collaboration with the electro music festival Tomorrowland, and Tridentthe official plane of the Red Devils and Red Flames, the national football teams.

The company previously had the aircraft Magrittein homage to the surrealist painter, Bruegelalso dedicated to the great Flemish painter of the 16th century, and Aerosmurffrom the international name of the Smurfs and from a previous competition organized by Brussels Airlines.
