Tina Turner fans have good reason to celebrate: a previously unreleased song by the late queen of rock and roll has just been released, nearly two years after her death.
Tina Turner’s musical legacy may already be vast, but it is now enhanced with a new title, straight from the archives of the Capitol Records label. The room Hot for You Baby was originally recorded for the album Private Dancerin 1984, but was removed from the project before its publication.
The song, launched on platforms Thursday, will appear on the anniversary edition of this album, expected in March, alongside its megasuccess What’s Love Got to Do with It. Written by Australians George Young and Harry Venda, Hot for You Baby had been recorded by John Paul Young five years earlier.
Private Dancer marked an important turning point in Tina Turner’s career following her tumultuous marriage to her partner, collaborator and mentor Ike Turner. The album sold more than 10 million copies, in addition to being rewarded with three Grammy awards during the 1985 ceremony. The singer died in May 2023 following a long illness. She was 83 years old.
