Eagles QB Jalen Hurts shatters unbelievable records in NFC Conference Championship to head to Super Bowl LIV

The Philadelphia Eagles are NFC champions for the second time in three years. On Sunday, they defeated their NFC East foes the Washington Commanders in a 55-23 beatdown that sees them heading to Super Bowl LIV, where they’ll face the winner of the AFC title game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.

If they play the Chiefs, it will be their chance at a rematch of the 2022-23 Super Bowl, which the Eagles lost in heartbreaking fashion, 38-35.

Eagles shatter records in NFC title game

In the Eagles’ victory, seven of their eight touchdowns were rushing touchdownswith quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley responsible for three apiece. Hurts was responsible for 246 passing yards, one passing touchdown, 10 carries for 16 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns.

Not only were the Eagles’ 55 points the most scored in a conference championship game (since the 1970 merger), but Hurts’ three rushing touchdowns led to him shattering another NFL record.

Hurts now has ten rushing touchdowns in the NFL postseason, which is the most by any quarterback in NFL playoff history. He has now surpassed Steve Young, who had nine. But that’s not all. This game led to several other broken records for Hurts.

Hurts is the first player in NFL history to have multiple one+ passing touchdowns and three+ rushing touchdowns in one playoff game. He tied his own and Otto Graham’s records for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in an NFL playoff game (three). He became the first quarterback with multiple three+ rushing touchdowns in the playoffs. And he and Barkley became the first duo to have three+ rushing touchdowns in an NFL playoff game in league history.
