The Portes Brodard company was founded in 1892 in La Roche by the great-grandfather of the family. At the time, it was located at the village forge, mainly dedicated to shoeing horses.
In addition to their 133 years of existence in 2025, Portes Brodard SA will also pass the milestone of 33 years of collaboration with their main supplier Hörmann. It has also been 3 years since the 5th generation officially took charge of the company.
From blacksmithing to door making
In the 1950s, faced with a decline in the number of horses, the family had to reinvent itself. “My father and his brother started making garage doors,” explains Éric Brodard. These doors, still manufactured today, allowed the company to grow and prosper. “We have developed the business with my brother since the early 90s,” he adds.
A complete and innovative range
Portes Brodard offers a wide range of products adapted to the varied needs of its customers. “We also deal with systems for housing, parking lots or industry, often with specific functions,” explains Cédric Brodard. The company stands out in particular for its special, custom-made doors. “It’s precisely this type of challenge that motivates us and always pushes us to move forward and develop,” he confides. This know-how allows us to stand out in a niche market in the field of doors, particularly for all special manufacturing that cannot be found in a catalog.
A close-knit family business
Beyond economic activity, Portes Brodard is above all a family story. “When we talk about a family business, it’s really a core that is united, values passed down from generation to generation, which is a beautiful thing,” emphasizes David Brodard. “We really talk about a big family more than a company, we talk more about colleagues, friends than employees or collaborators.”
The company currently counts on the support and valuable work of 44 employees, including 2 apprentices.

Sustainable know-how
Sustainability is at the heart of Portes Brodard’s concerns. “I am convinced that we have always been focused on a sustainable product,” says David Brodard. This philosophy, passed down from generation to generation, is reflected in the quality of the products. “My grandfather was already designing doors that lasted almost too long,” he smiles, “because we assumed that a garage door was manufactured and installed for a lifetime of professional career. It is only today that “we are starting to replace them,” he emphasizes with pride.
For the Brodard family, know-how means “perpetuating what the elders have already created while evolving”. This ability to combine tradition and innovation is the key to the company’s longevity.
Towards the future with passion
The company does not intend to stop there. “It’s this type of challenge that motivates us and always pushes us to move forward and develop,” says Cédric Brodard. With a united and versatile team, Portes Brodard is ready to take on future challenges and continue to innovate while respecting its values.
