On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Landing, the singer Antoine spoke to our colleagues at Figaro. The one who celebrates his 80th birthday this year, lived for several decades on the seas. If he has maintained close relationships with several celebrities, the singer also thinks about the future and his final wishes.

“When the time comes. A handful of dust near a volcano in Puy-de-Dôme or in a lagoon in Polynesia if it’s not too complicated, it will suit me very well”, he confides. “I thought about asking permission from the Prefect to be buried at home, as Bernadette Lafont (Cévennes), Sacha Distel (Var) and Michel Piccoli (Eure). But the prefecture only gives the green light after the person’s death. he regrets.

Antoine confides in his last wishes

He who lives half his year on the sea, reveals how he manages to keep busy during his long months. “I brought back quantities of images from all these trips. My DVDs have been incredibly successful and I have published more than thirty books. The latest one, which has just been released by Gallimard, Set the sail, is in its fourth reissue, this time with a joyful cover designed by Titouan Lamazou”, he says, not a little proud.

“It is a practical guide born from a conversation with the great sailor and writer Bernard Moitessier. It covers everything you need to go on a big trip. Hoisting the sails, taking care of yourself on board, sailing, mechanics…”.

The singer: the crazy encounters throughout his career

And it is also thanks to his lifestyle that he managed to make himself known and to continue working. Moreover, during his career, Antoine met many personalities.

“In the 60s, I opened for the Stones in Marseille. We practically tuned our guitars to the same amp. In the midst of the success of Élucubrations, the Stones were surprised to see that their curtain-raiser sparked as much hysteria as they did. says Antoine. “Mick always remembered it. Ten years later, I was on my sailboat in Martinique. Friends on another boat invite me to dinner, telling me that Mick Jagger wants to see you.”
