Following revelations about the links between the Eagles MMA club, owned by star Khabib Nurmagomedov, and one of the perpetrators of the terrorist attack which shook Dagestan last Sunday, one of its training rooms was searched by the police this Friday.

No fewer than twenty people (including a priest and 16 police officers) were killed in a series of attacks carried out in two churches and a synagogue in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala, and the coastal city of Derbent.

A few hours after the act, one of the terrorists was able to be identified. Former MMA professional named Gadzhimurad Kagirov (2-0 career), the latter attended the Eagles MMA training room in Derbent, owned by Khabib Nurmagomedov, for many months. Revelations which discredited the former UFC star and his gym before the latter was the target of a search this Friday afternoon, as revealed in a video widely distributed on social networks Telegram and X (formerly Twitter).

“An inhuman act,” Khabib condemned

Following the revelations about the links between the attacker and his MMA school, Khabib was quick to clarify things, indicating that the man in question “is not a student of the school. He did have a training camp in the gym for a few months in 2021, but he was never a full member of the team.”

“Entering a church and killing worshipers simply because they practice a different religion… Do I really need to condemn this? It is an inhumane and brutal act,” first condemned the former champion of lightweight of the UFC before continuing, “Dagestan concentrates more than thirty ethnic groups and of course the majority of the population is Muslim but there are also Jews and Christians… These people have been killed five minutes from my house. How can this be normal?

According to the Russian media Interfax, all of the documents present were verified by the authorities during the search carried out this Friday in the Eagles MMA gym. An investigation is underway.
