The president is “the leader of the armies” et “the constitution is not honorary”. This is what the French Minister of the Armed Forces declared on Thursday, in response to the far right, who suggested that Emmanuel Macron would not be in charge on defense issues in the event of his party’s victory in the legislative. “In the essential areas of foreign policy and national security, he is required to act directly, since under the Constitution he negotiates and concludes treaties, since he is the head of the armed forces, since he presides over defence”launched Sébastien Lecornu in a message posted on X, quoting Charles de Gaulle.

The number of proxies continues to climb. The Ministry of the Interior counts 2,124,918 proxies established as of Wednesday June 26. “It’s twice as much as during the last election”, assures the ministry Thursday on the social network X, where one million proxies had been registered. Three quarters of these proxies “were carried out online”.

Guest of BFMTV, the spokesperson for the National Rally, Sébastien Chenu, wanted to clarify his comments on dual nationality and in particular the ban on strategic jobs for dual nationals which has caused controversy. “We will make a list of jobs, there are perhaps 50, which are extremely sensitive jobs in the management of intelligence services in which we consider that in order to avoid pressure (…) you have to be national, French”he explains on Thursday.

Last debate before the first round. Like Tuesday on TF1, Jordan Bardella for the RN and Gabriel Attal for the presidential majority will cross swords on France 2 from 8:50 p.m. But the left will this time be represented by the socialist Olivier Faure, while it was the rebellious Manuel Bompard who had held the contradiction during the first debate.
